The cruciferous vegetables obtain their name after the cross shape of the petals that they grow in. Researchers believe that this could be linked to the presence of a hormone-balancing compound that is found in the cruciferous vegetables referred to as “Indole -3-Carbinol.”

In various other studies, the consumption of cruciferous vegetables has also been linked with the reduction in the risks of developing other types of cancers including lung, stomach, rectal, and colon cancer. In addition to being a great source of antioxidants, the cruciferous veggies also contain a compound known as “glucosinolates” –that could be the key factor in fighting cancer.

With this finding, it can be highly effective in including a cruciferous vegetable-rich diet every day to reduce the overall risks of developing cancer.
