The cure for Skin Cancer
Skin cancer arises due to the development of abnormal cells in the skin that spread to other parts of the body. Some of the skin cancer categories that are being found in most of the skin cancer patients are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. Among these, the third type i.e. melanoma causes most of the deaths and is considered the most dangerous. The oncologists who provide the cure for the skin cancer generally focus on finding the main source causing tumor so that it can be treated for the whole life.
Skin cancer can be caused due to several factors:
- Skin type
- Overexposure to the ultraviolet light
- Arsenic exposure
- Weakened the immune system and
- Genetic predisposition
- Use of toxic beauty products
Besides these, there are several other causes of skin cancers.
Let’s have a look at certain therapies or treatments being presently used for the cure for skin cancer:
Mohs surgery is a commonly used procedure for the treatment of skin cancer. Cancer specialists use this treatment for cancers that grow rapidly, are large in size, contain indefinite edges or persist after past treatment. The procedure is carried out in multiple stages until no cancer cells remain.
Excisional surgery involves the use of a scalpel to remove the whole tumor spread around the border of the particular area of the skin. The surgery is carried out by performing multiple stitches and examining tissue samples in the labs.
Radiotherapy, skin cancer treatment involves using low radiations to destroy the main source of the tumor. The procedure does not cause any side effect as the standard of radiations involved is completely safe to human body.
Electrodesiccation and curettage
Curettage technique is typically reticent for the small lesions. The procedure is used in combination with chemotherapy.
Although not exhaustive this is a list of some of the treatment options for skin cancer. Extensive range of procedures have been developed currently for the cure for skin cancer. And, various studies are also being done to find out the new therapies or techniques for the treatment of skin cancer.
