It is basically a cancer of the womb, which is also referred to as uterine cancer. Majority of the uterine cancers are endometrial cancers and are the third most common amongst women.

The exact cause of the endometrial cancer is still unknown but age plays an important factor in cancer. Because women above 60 are more likely to be in danger of acquiring the disease. Female with early menstruation and late menopause are also at higher cancer risks.

Risk Factors include:

  • Obesity
  • Diabetes
  • High intake of animal proteins and fats
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • High blood pressure

Women who have been diagnosed with endometrial cancer should seek advice from a qualified medical doctor and should avoid getting pregnant.

Here are some common tests performed for the diagnosis of endometrial cancer:

  • Pelvic examination
  • Transvaginal ultrasound
  • Hysteroscopy
  • Biopsy

Among the many types of treatment options, below are some treatments that could help those who are in search of finding a cure for endometrial cancer:

Surgery

The surgical action is taken to remove the uterus along with both the fallopian tubes and the ovaries. It is the most common treatment for the endometrial cancer patients. The process of removal of the uterus is also called as hysterectomy.

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is a treatment option used for women at the serious stage. It is performed to remove the presence of any left-over cancer-causing cells. It also prevents cancer to spread from other parts of the body.

Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy is required along with chemotherapy before a surgery with a purpose to kill the remains of the cancerous cells in the body.

Palliative cure

This is an additional care given to the patients along with the curative treatments.
