Stomach cancer is specified by the growth of cancerous cells within the lining of the stomach. This cancer is also called gastric cancer. And this type of cancer is difficult to diagnose because typically these don’t show symptoms in the earlier stages.
Stomach cancer is considered rare compared to other types of cancer. The biggest drawback of this disease is that it is difficult to diagnose. This is diagnosed when it spreads to other parts of the body which makes more difficult to treat.
Signs and symptoms of stomach cancer are:
Blood in the stool:
The colour of blood in the stool often provides a significant clue to the origin of bleeding. Bleeding from the stomach is often described as having a “coffee ground” emergence. Blood in the stool is not always visible directly. It can be traced only by a test.
Abdominal pain and discomfort:
Abdominal pain is one of the common signs and symptoms of stomach cancer. This pain can range from persistent mild discomfort to severe pain. Pain and discomfort take place in the upper abdomen area.
If you have nausea and vomiting which persists, then there is a greater chance that it is a more serious issue. If you are vomiting up a large amount of blood then don’t wait to make an appointment.
Loss of appetite:
It is not a good signal to lose your appetite for a couple of days. Feeling full quickly is also a serious condition that reflects that something is wrong.
Abdominal bloating can be a symptom of stomach cancer when it occurs after meals. Bloating usually comes with eating high fiber meals or eating too much. If you are feeling bloated and don’t have any explanation then talk to a doctor.
Changes in Bowel habits:
Diarrhea, constipation and changes in bowel habits are often the warning signals of stomach cancer. Everyone has different bowel habits and this is normal but when it changes for you as an individual, then it becomes a serious issue.
These are the most common signs and symptoms of stomach cancer. Observing these signs at early stages can save your life. Once you notice any of these symptoms in your body, consult a doctor.
