Found in Indian sub-continent, Neem is an herb used for medicinal purposes. Its use is common in traditional medicine and Ayurveda. It has important anti-oxidants such as nimbin and azadirachtin, which boost its medicinal uses. Its color could range from pale yellow to green. Its essential oil can be obtained from its fruit and seeds by solvent extraction, cold pressing technique or steam distillation.

Majorly its benefits can be antiseptic, antihistamine, antioxidant, antifungal, antipyretic. Could all these factors help prevent cancer? The answer is maybe because one of the most import benefits of this herb is that it prevents cancer. The high content of antioxidants in neem neutralize free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and any sort of cell damage. It may be a beneficial tool against different types of cancer such as prostate cancer and breast cancer. The most noticeable function of Neem Oil is that it reverses the formation of malignant tumors, reducing the ability of the cancer to spread. It also could help in lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases and rheumatoid arthritis. It may help reduce inflammation caused in any affected muscle and tissues.

Neem oil is anti-microbial; hence it may help in boosting the performance of the immune system, cancelling out any serious types of infections. Moreover, it prevents ulcer formation in the stomach because it regulates the pH level of the stomach. Loss of appetite is a common side effect after any surgery, a prolonged infection or any other illness, causing the patient to lose weight and lead to poor absorption of the nutrients. Neem oil is an excellent form of an appetizer that can enhance a patient’s appetite and help in gaining weight.

However, certain side effects should be kept in mind. Consuming Neem Oil internally is capable of irritating respiratory tract. Its consumption in large quantity could lead to bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn and nausea. Sudden huge intake can lead to rapid reduction in sugar levels of the blood. Pregnant women should not ingest it as it can trigger menstrual flow, causing a miscarriage. Men with fertility issues should avoid its use.

Hence, using Neem Oil in suitable quantity could serve to be beneficial for not only preventing cancer but many other forms of diseases. Gaining your GP’s advice is also necessary.
