Hi, my name is Kerry, and I’m a childhood cancer survivor.
In 2014 I was told that I had Stage Two Lymphoma, and my journey began. I was soon in the hospital with tubes running down my throat so I could breathe and to keep my air-passage open.
Shortly after that, I began my first cancer treatments. While I was going through my cancer treatments, I met a boy by the name of Joshua; he too was going through cancer treatment. His very kind mother adopted me, and I soon had a loving mother who saw to it that I was loved and care for; her name was Heidi. Joshua became my special friend and loving brother. Heidi and Joshua supported me through my two-year ordeal. After those two years, I officially beat cancer and on February 23rd, 2016. I was pronounced cancer free.
Less than two weeks later, on March 3, 2016, Joshua too was “declared” cancer free by his doctors. For the next two year and a half years, we lived such happy lives. Then on November 20, 2018, we received terrible news. My new adopted mother, Heidi was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer. Sadly, on November 30, 2018, just ten days later, she suddenly passed away.
I have to say my journey has been long for me, and it has been painful both physically and emotionally. Never the less, I’m proud to announce that my adopted brother and I will be celebrating our 5th year of being cancer free!
To all of you suffering from any type of cancer, or who have family or friends suffering from this disease, my wish is for all of you to stay blessed!
