Pleural cancer is found in the lungs and is caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibres.
Peritoneal mesothelioma is a form of cancer that disturbs the lining of the abdomen. It is caused by the ingestion of asbestos fibres.
The pericardium mesothelioma covers the heart and is one of the rarest forms of cancer.
This type of cancer is also called malignant mesothelioma of the tunica virginal’s testis. It begins with cancerous cells in the mesothelium, the thin layers of tissue that surround the testes.
Signs and Symptoms of Mesothelioma

- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain
- Pleural effusion

- A persistent cough

Mesothelioma Cancer treatment and therapy options
Treatment for mesothelioma is the same as other types of cancer. The most common approach is surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.
Surgery aims to remove as much of cancer as possible but can also be used to reduce tumor size or remove fluid build-up.
Chemotherapy aims to kill fast-growing cancer cells or kill remaining mesothelioma cells after surgery.
Radiation therapy aims to damage cancer cells to stop growth and reduce symptoms.

There is no cure for mesothelioma. But new diagnostic and treatment technologies are helping the patients live for years.
