pH (potential of hydrogen) is a scale from 0-14 through which we measure acidity or alkalinity of the body. The 0-6 range indicates that a substance is acidic and a range of 8-14 indicates that a substance is basic (alkaline). The maintenance of pH levels slightly inclining more towards basicity (approximately 7.35 pH) is considered to be optimum for the transfer of oxygen in the body.
However, our certain life choices can deplete the alkalinity of our body, without which acidity increases, causing acidosis. Poor eating habits, alcohol consumption, more intake of antibiotics, artificial food colors and flavors, a higher level of sodium and preservatives can cause this depletion. Sleeping habits, excessive exercise routine, pollution, chemical and radiation exposure, chronic stress conditions can affect the basicity of our body as well.
The excess of acid in our body gets stored in body tissues, deteriorating their shape and function with time. It oxidizes arteries and veins, harming them. Organs and cell walls also get harmed, even making the blood acidic. For the removal of acid from the blood, the body deposit it into cells, making them toxic and acidic. Many of these cells die whereas many times, these toxic cells do not die but adapt to the new acidic environment, thus becoming abnormal and malignant. These malignant cells do not respond to DNA memory code or brain truncation hence they divide and grow more without any order. These growing cells become cancerous and cause the body to become more acidic.
Cancer thrives in an acidic environment according to many kinds of research, in fact, pH levels of the body can indicate the likelihood of a person getting cancer. Making the body alkaline is one of the major fighting tools against cancer, which can take months if cancer has already developed.
Hence, changing lifestyle could help lower the risk of cancer. Alkalinity can be increased by modifying your diet with leafy green vegetables, avocados, Brussel sprouts and wheatgrass. The omission of refined sugars, processed carbohydrates can help you achieve optimum pH level. Alkali dietary supplements can be taken, only as per your physician’s advice. To lower stress levels, yoga and meditation can help. Exercise can also help, although over exercise boosts the production of adrenaline and cortisol which can produce acids in turn.
Hence maintaining a balance of lifestyle, diet and mental health could keep you safe from the risk of cancer.
