Cancer, unlike other diseases, has a powerful and long-lasting impact on anyone. It shatters the world of the patient as well as the patient’s near and dear ones. Many of them get shattered and lose all hope and some take it as a second chance and fight back bravely. A number of them pen down their cancer hope stories so that others can take some inspiration and preventive measures. If you have read any of the survival stories you must have been amazed by the amount of courage and strength these people muster in them. There is always a common part in almost every story and that is the positive belief and hope.
In the initial reaction of any person who is diagnosed with cancer is the utter shock and disbelieve regardless of fact how strong mindset you have. At this point in time there should be an unconditional support from the family members and loved ones. There is a series of feelings which are observed before and therapy stages such as fear, depression, stress, anxiety, etc.
According to the Greek physician Galen, “emotions have a great effect on the treatment of cancer”. Our mindset plays a very important role, as the body seems to tap into the positive thoughts and it creates a healing energy which is capable of miraculous effects. A positive attitude helps in relieving stress which lowers the blood pressure and calms mind and body. It also contributes to a nurturing and calm environment around you. Having a positive attitude means, you do not think negative and preoccupy yourself with some activities such as gardening, taking care of a pet, reading cancer hope stories or any inspirational work, painting, dancing, yoga, meditation or any of your hobby that gives you joy.
You cannot treat your disease if you are not ready to accept and face it and that can be related to one of the writings of Plato which says, “To treat a body without treating a mind was folly”.
