Alex Trebek –the famous host of the show “Jeopardy,” has recently revealed that he is having stage IV of pancreatic cancer. While this might come as a setback for his fans, Trebek says that he is going to fight for the same.
Alex Trebek –who has been the long-time Jeopardy host has recently made the revelation that he has been diagnosed with the advanced stage IV of pancreatic cancer. He added that just like other 50,000 individuals in the United States of America having pancreatic cancer, I have also been diagnosed with the advanced stage IV of pancreatic cancer. Trebek is aged 78 years, and in a YouTube video, he said that he would try finishing the current season of Jeopardy even after his illness.
While the prognosis does not appear highly promising, the world-famous host said that he is going to fight for the same. He even added that he would continue working as he continues with his cancer treatment.
Alex Trebek has been hosting the world-renowned show “Jeopardy” since 1984. While he took his leave absence from the show in January 2018 for getting rid of the blood clots in his brain. In October 2018, Trebek had gone forward with renewing his contract with the Sony Pictures Television to continue serving as the host of the famous quiz show across 2022.
It was reported that Trebek’s family is deeply saddened by the news of his cancer. Mike Hopkins –the Chairman of Sony Pictures Television, states that Trebek will receive full support as he would continue tackling the challenge.
As per the reports of the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, the overall case of pancreatic cancer tends to have the highest mortality rate in comparison to other cancers –around 91 percent of the patients with pancreatic cancer tend to die within 5 years of the disease diagnosis. Pancreatic cancer is also the 3rd major cause of deaths that occur due to cancer.
