A 9-Year-old Boy with Liver Cancer Named Honorary Captain by the Texas Police Department

A 9-year-old who is fighting life with liver cancer, has been recently named as the honorary captain by the Texas Police Department.

Brandon Tadeo Alvarez –a 9-year-old boy, diagnosed with liver cancer, was named as the honorary captain by the Alton Police Department in Texas, USA. Brandon was diagnosed with liver cancer last year. In September, after receiving treatment, his cancer went into remission. However, during early 2019, his cancer came back.

Showing Respect to the Young Aspirant

The officers at the Anton Police Department in Texas received a phone call from a friend of Brandon recently. His friend explained that Brandon loved the career of law enforcement. It was then the police officers decided to meet the boy. Upon meeting Brandon, it became evident that he dreamt of becoming a police officer himself one day.

Chief of the Anton Police Department, Jonathan Flores, told the news reporters that during their visit, Tanya –Brandon’s mother, shared the details of the condition of Brandon. She informed the officers that the doctors have now stopped all the treatments. It was then Flores realized that they must make Brandon’s wish come true at all costs.

Brandon on His Dream Coming True

A ceremony was organized at the local City Hall for supporting Brandon. In the given ceremony, over 200 people including friends, family, members of the community, elected officials, and officers from the police departments nearby were gathered. Amongst all such support, Brandon was sworn in as the Honorary Captain by Judge Keno Vasquez.

Flores said that members from their police department included the members of law enforcement who lined the walls for showing their support to Brandon. Moreover, the common citizens also showed their support to the boy as well as his family. They created a poster board consisting of messages. The board was titled “Not Going Down without a Fight.”

Flores said that in our family, no one has to fight alone. We aim at continuing to support Brandon as well as his family by doing whatever is possible to lift their overall spirits. We wish to help them in staying motivated throughout Brandon’s journey in fighting the terrible disease.

The story of Brandon stands truly inspirational as he lived his dream of becoming a police officer in the law enforcement domain.
